Charter

The research committee goal is to conduct an advocacy research program to continually advance AR technologies to the benefit of the AREA members and the wider AR ecosystem. Objectives of this committee include:

Focus areas for this committee include the following as applied uniquely to AR:

1. Capture – Encourage, promote and co-ordinate research topics and proposals from AREA members
2. Manage – Ensure the most appropriate research proposals are chosen. Manage the process to ensure the best results are gained
3. Deliver – Disseminate the results of the research, ensuring the needs of the members are met whilst continuing to benefit the wider AR ecosystem

Current Activities

• The Committee is engaged in an ongoing project to update the Enterprise AR Research Agenda Database:
• The next (12th) AREA Research project is focused on Deployment of Wearable AR in Highly Secure Corporate environments.
• Recent Research projects awarded by the AREA Steering Committee have included AR Delivered Instructions for High-Dexterity Work and 3D Mapping of Industrial Environments for AR.
• The Committee has also proposed the development of an AREA Research Grant or Scholarship to support a student working on an enterprise AR project.
