AREA 5G and AR Research – Overview and Survey Results

This is a public summary of the complete AREA research report prepared by Saverio Romeo and his research team under contract with the AREA.

The research team, composed of experts in IoT and 5G, has taken a combined research approach. They compiled and assessed business and academic literature on the  predicted role of 5G in Industry 4.0, 5G-enabled AR solutions for enterprises and the  expected future evolutions of 5G and AR. The literature review was followed by a primary research phase, conducting interviews with key stakeholders: enterprises (primarily manufacturers), system integrators specialized in Industry 4.0 solutions, experts in 5G and AR, mobile network operators, and members of the AR community. The knowledge of the AR community regarding 5G was also assessed through a short survey.
